This page was designed to showcase new electrical products and also to answer some common electrical questions that come up during home inspections.

Emergency backup power.

Having backup emergency power is simply peace of mind. Portable power is a great option because its mobile, unlike a standby stationary generator. The electric start option and no flat tires makes it very easy to operate and relocate.

I have lights that turn on when the switch is up, but they do not work with the other switch.

It's likely that you have wires crossed at your switch locations. You should call Leaf Electric for professional service.

Automatic Emergency Backup Power

             a great investment

These days it seems like our power goes out more frequently. Here are some reasons why an automatic back up generator may be right for you.

  • You have overhead power

  • Storms seem to knock power out more frequently then previous years

  • I work from home and need the power to stay on

  • While on vacation, the power would be restored automatically to protect food and temperature control in your home.

  • Threats of cyber attack

I want to purchase an LED or CFL light bulb, but I don't like the white light they give off. What should I look for when buying light bulbs.

Are Federal Pacific Panels safe?

In a class action lawsuit, a New Jersey State Court ruled that the Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Company “violated the Consumer Fraud Act because FPE knowingly and purposefully distributed circuit breakers which were not tested to meet UL standards…” (To see the Class Action Settlement Notice issued for New Jersey Residents, click here.) An expert who investigated the potential hazards of Federal Pacific Electric panels stated under UL 489 test conditions, that FPE panels fail to trip at a much higher rate than standard panels.

Since most houses that have these type of panels are older, they also do not have a full house smoke detector system. It is our suggestion to replace the electrical panel with a new breaker panel. Typically this cost ranges from $950.00 - $1200 for panel replacement only. Call us today or email us at our contact page.

A home inspection item that gets flagged by home inpsectors is grounding of the csst gas line. The gas line can rupture with a lightning strike close by and become a safety hazard. Call Leaf Electric for repairs.

My power went out and there isn't a breaker tripped.

It is likely that you have a GFI receptacle that has tripped. Locate all GFI's and try to reset them. Contact Leaf Electric if you are unable to reset or get the power back on.
